After the amazing experience during the EAPS 2018 and the ESPNIC 2019, the EAPS congresses offer again high-fidelity simulation sessions.

Standard simulation sessions dealing with paediatric, neonatal and ECMO scenarios will be on offer and also some skills stations more focused on procedures including intubation, vascular accesses and Non invasive ventilation.

Using high fidelity simulation equipment and phantoms all the delegates have the opportunity to train for real life emergencies.

An open and motivational discussion of performance and error, with a group of international instructors instilling the principles of teamwork will give you a real unique simulation learning experience.

Simulation

During the 90 minute sessions, one clinical scenario is reproduced in a fully immersive simulation environment. Participants will be able to do exactly the same things they can do in a paediatric ER, NICU or PICU to deal with medical emergencies using a ‘high fidelity’ manikin that reacts identically to a patient kindly provided by CAE healthcare. After each scenario, skilled instructors will provide feedback during a debriefing session in which all delegates will take part and can discuss together. These hands-on workshops will be accessible during the whole Congress and each attendee will be able to register for a simulation session in a specific topic choosing between PICU, NICU and neonatal or paediatric ECMO.

Skills Station

At the EAPS 2020 Congress there will also be the option to attend skills stations dedicated to paediatric and neonatal procedures. During these 90 minute sessions, the attendees will have the opportunity to perform Advanced Airways (Paediatric and Neonatal), emergency vascular access (Intra-osseous and UVC) and non- invasive ventilation (neonatology and paediatrics) stations. ECMO skill stations will also be available for participation including: introducing ECMO circuit, trouble shooting, and simulated scenarios.

There will be 8 sessions a day each lasting 90 minutes.

All Congress delegates can register and take part in these SIM sessions. Each session will host up to 8 participants for each scenario, in each session 2 places are dedicated to nurses and AHP.
