*Hands-on Sessions

There will be multiple stations during the hands-on sessions in the afternoon, so echocardiography can be practiced in groups allowing hands-on experience for everyone (both on simulator and volunteers, i.e. healthy children).

Morning session – (Target audience – PhD or post-docs) Forging and leading collaborations to advance science and have impact

Objective: To develop doctoral/post-doc nurse scientists knowledge and understanding of  building and leading interdisciplinary impactful research

Networking lunch for all morning and afternoon attendees

Afternoon session – (Target audience – Pre-docs) Getting started with your research: what, how, and who with?

This will be an interactive training session dealing with concrete clinical situations.

By the end of the workshop participants should be able to:

  • Provide comprehensive care to an adolescent with a chronic condition (e.g. eating disorders)
  • Identify an adolescent with a mental health problem and how to respond (including suicidal conduct)
  • Use appropriate communication skills to address the situation of an adolescent with risky sexual behaviour
  • Recognize an adolescent misusing internet/social media, and respond using a systemic approach (e.g. involving the family)

The workshop content and pedagogic approaches are based on the Euteach programme supported by EAP (www.euteach.com)
